Did Matt Damon Make $1 Million A Line For ‘Bourne’?

Matt Damon may have put his mouth where his money is in his new film.

The actor has revealed in an interview with The Guardian that he only has about 25 lines of dialogue in the finished “Jason Bourne.”

That has led to speculation that with Damon’s past paydays he may have earned about $1 million per line for the latest in the “Bourne” franchise.

According to a 2007 Forbes storyDamon raked in $26 million for “Bourne Ultimatum.” Vanity Fair expanded on that with some of Damon’s more recent projects.

“Damon was reportedly paid $25 million to star in 2015’s ‘The Martian,”

Vanity Fair reported.

“And if that paycheck is any indication for what Universal had to shell out to woo Damon back to the franchise that has grossed over $1.2 billion worldwide, he was likely paid at least $25 million for Jason Bourne.”

The franchise is known for having way more action than words and the Academy Award winner has said he works very hard with all of the stunts.

Damon originated the role of Jason Bourne in 2002’s “The Bourne Identity” and has appeared in four of the five films currently in the franchise.

He credits them with making him a bankable star.

“It’s incalculable how much these movies have helped my career,”

he told The Telegraph last year.

“Suddenly it put me on a short list of people who could get movies made and so directors called me and that’s the best part of it.”

“Jason Bourne” arrives in theaters July 29.
