For his contribution to the development of the society, the Managing Director/CEO of Cross-River State Water Board Ltd, Prof. Godwin Oju Igile, has been conferred with the Pan-African Servant Leadership Honor by the African Students Union Parliament.
The ceremony which took place at Calabar, the Cross River State Capital Nigeria was highly attended by the Leadership of the Parliament and the Management Team of the Board.
It featured the honor presentation and an induction of the erudite professor as the face against drug abuse; A sensitization campaign by the parliament targeted towards appealing to the inner conscience of victims and potential preys to which the Student’s happen to fall under.
ASUP is the umbrella body of students from the 54 member countries of Africa.
According to the Speaker of ASUP, Mr Kewul Abel, Prof. Godwin was honoured because of his gigantic strives in dymstifying effective service delivery, coupled with his passion for youth and students that has seen him inspire a number of them for Professional Development and Sponsored some through their educational pursuits.
He added that Prof Godwin’s contributions couldnt go unnoticed and was indeed Commendable
The Clerk of the Parliament Adjei Frimpomg said the decision was taken during the union’s conference at the University of Ghana, Legon in Accra.
“Our recipient for today is a detribalized Nigerian, lover of students/youths and an icon worthy of emulation whose credible credentials of efficient service delivery is Laudable.
Adjei, said ASUP had taken its time to scrutinise Prof Godwin who had committed his time to serve the common good in accordance to the Pan-Africanism Ideology.
Reacting, Prof Godwin charged youths to emulate the virtues of excellence displayed by past African nationalists which made them a beacon of light to the entire African continent.
The Professor of Industrial Engineering and Environmental Biochemistry expressed delight that the Honor was coming from intellectual students and that it was going to charge him to do more. He further added that he would be a part of the fight against drug abuse and would use every opportunity within his confines to kick against it.
He urged the youth to strive to excel and distinguish themselves beyond their local shores.
