Ronaldo Makes History Again With Another Record Breaker

With a hat-trick in Sunday’s 4-2 win over Kashima Antlers, Cristiano Ronaldo brought an end to a wonderful year with the Club World Cup title.

2016 belongs to World Champions Real Madrid

The Portuguese attacker became the first player to score a hat-trick in the final of the competition, saving his side after Gaku Shibasaki put the Japanese side 2-1 up early in the second half.

The win sees Madrid extend their record-breaking unbeaten run to 37 games, making for a wonderful year for the club all-round.

Crucial to that, of course, has been Ronaldo, whose perfect last 12 months has seen him make history for the umpteenth time of his career.

On Sunday, the 31-year-old became the first player to win the Champions League, European Championship, Club World Cup and the Ballon d’Or in the same year.

With 16 goals in 12 Champions League games, he was integral to Madrid winning an 11th European crown. That summer, he led Portugal to the Euro 2016 final with his definitive displays, despite being taken off injured in the first-half.

It was no surprise, then, that the former Manchester United star won the Ballon d’Or for the fourth time in his career.
