We’re Not In A Hurry To Name Eagles Coach – NFF

NFF VP Seyi Akinwumi

First Vice President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Seyi Akinwumi, on Thursday said that the body under the leadership of Amaju Pinnick was not in a hurry to name substantive Super Eagles head coach.

He maintained that the federation had to learn from the mistakes of the past and give the best to Nigerian football.
Akinwumi, stated this in Abuja, shortly after the Federation Cup draw. He noted that the NFF was taken its time to give Nigerians the best.

When asked how long will Nigerians wait for the substantive coach of the Super Eagles he replied:

“Nigeria should wait till the time we are going to name the substantive coach, I cannot say now and I think the question is meant for the technical committee.

“And we need to understand some things. It is not about getting the coach but getting the best for the country. With a lot of experiences we have had in past with of coaches, we need to go to the root of the problems and take our time, solve the issues and come up with the best.

“Right now, we don’t have any urgency, no qualifier, no competitive games, that is why we are trying to use the time to get the best for the country. We want Nigerians to be patient, I am sure very soon we shall get the best for the country,” he assured.

Speaking on the forthcoming Super Eagles friendly matches, Akinwunmi said the federation was on course for the games.

“As far as I know, nothing has changed, the coach has called those he wanted and there is assurance from the federation so we are on course for the games.

“We want to seize the opportunity to launch those young lads that we tag future Super Eagles a n d those who are coming to blend together and understand what it takes to have that national crest “So, we are on course, the plan is already on ground,” he said.
