Yaya Toure: Man City midfielder ‘too important to let go’

Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure

Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure will stay at the club after they told him he was “too important to let go”, according to the player’s agent.

Dimitri Seluk recently claimed the 32-year-old was “90% certain”  to leave at the end of the season.

But speaking to Sky Sports News, Seluk said Toure, who had beenlinked with a move to Inter Milan,  would stay.

Toure scored 10 goals in 29 league games as City finished the season second in the Premier League.

The former Barcelona player joined the club in 2010 and has helped them win the English title twice – in 2012 and 2014 – the FA Cup in 2011 and the League Cup in 2014.

He has two years to run on his current deal.

Toure is currently with the City squad in North America on a post-season tour.

Pellegrini’s side will take on Toronto FC at BMO Field on 27 May, before facing Houston Dynamo 24 hours later.

The final leg of the tour sees them travel to New York on 30 May to attend their sister club New York City FC’s game against Houston Dynamo in MLS.
